This performance was based on an original idea of artist Manolis Charos, as part of his exhibition at the Benaki Museum, in September 2011. In Oper(O)’s production of Aesop’s Fables, the archetype Fable characters meet original opera heroes. Oper(O) make references to opera heroes and use reactions and behavioural patterns of lyric drama characters to interpret the well-known classic fairytale motifs. Opera heroes turn into well-known fairy tale characters and engage in an enchanting dialogue with Aesop and the paintings of Manolis Charos.
